Welcome to STAR

Horseback archery is one of the world's oldest martial traditions, combining the partnership of horse and rider with the skill and precision of instinctive archery. While it once shaped the battlefields of civilizations from the Mongols to the Scythians to the Native Americans, today it has evolved into a fast-paced and exciting competitive sport enjoyed by riders of all ages and experience levels. Whether your goal is to compete, improve your horsemanship, or simply experience the thrill of shooting from horseback, horseback archery offers a challenge unlike any other.

South Texas Archery Riders (STAR) was founded in 2014 with the mission of growing horseback archery throughout  Texas in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. Since hosting our first competition in 2016, STAR has proudly organized the longest-running continuous annual horseback archery competition in the United States. From first-time riders to nationally ranked competitors, our club is dedicated to helping every archer develop their skills while building a community that shares a passion for this incredible sport.
